Writer: Food, wine, cultureI have written plays, poems and creative (non)fiction. I've crafted and edited wine and spirits lists, menus and all kinds of copy—please see my folio for examples. My degree in professional writing honed my storytelling skills, but so many of my lessons came from interacting with people face-to-face.
The last fifteen years, I’ve studied politics, theatre, writing and wine. All the while I’ve supported myself through hospitality. There I did everything--from fine dining to food stores, fromage to running the floor. I trained as a sommelier and travelled to see grapes in dozens of countries. Along the way I savoured anything vegetarian. My interest in food is born out of my love of people and the stories you can tell with food, about food, and over food. |
She caught me coming from the shops. Actual footage of how I carry my bag when it's too full to close, it slung in front of me with kale spilling out of the open top. |
This is my photo of one of the best Champagnes; NV, Agrapart, Grand Cru, Terroirs, Blanc de Blancs.
Drink with friends in celebration. I drank this with a dear friend after we both quit our jobs. |
My photo of red curry in progress in my mortar and pestle.
Warning: don't put too many things in the mortar. The ingrediantes are spilling over in the picture and my pestle has no hope of making the curry into a paste. |
Even though a waiter's friend is the best bottle opener, there's something so joyful about the 70's kind. It always reminds me of a person throwing their hands up in excitement.
This photo of mine captures it opening a bottle of 2019, Chateau Thivin, Cote de Brouilly, l'Herond. |
